NSfK's 54th Research Seminar held in Selfoss, Iceland in May 2012.

The Scandinavian Research Council for Criminology (NSfK) was established on January 1st 1962. For 50 years NSfK has been committed to the role of its charter, to further criminological research within the Scandinavian countries and advice the Scandinavian governments on issues related to criminology.

To celebrate NSfK's anniversary the Council has published Nordic Criminology in Fifty Years. This jubilee publication contains five research papers that were published in NSfK´s publications during the last 50 years.

A workshop on environmental criminal law in the Nordic countries, initiated and funded by the Scandinavian Research Council for Criminology, was recently completed.

In the spring of 2012, a report will be published by the council, complete with presentations from all of the participants given at the workshops. Already some of the presentations have been published electronically, in Scandinavian languages, and can be found here below.

The 3-year workshop When the Unforeseen is Seen, initiated and funded by the Scandinavian Research Council for Criminology, was recently completed. Prompted by a banking collapse in Iceland in 2008, the workshop's topics were related to crisis and society.

Themes of the Seminar: Criminal politics and right-wing populism and Prostitution.

Målet med denne rapporten er å lage en oversikt over den virksomhet som Nordisk Samarbeidsråd for Kriminologi (NSfK) drev i årene 2001-2009. Oppgaven er å beskrive aktiviteter som rådet har lagt bak seg, og komme med forslag til hvilke tradisjoner som bør føres videre, hvilke nye problemstillinger og samarbeidspartnere som skal tas opp til vurdering i forbindelse med fremtidige aktiviteter. Slik heter det i kontrakten mellom forfatteren og rådet: Med utgangspunkt i en gjennomgang av erfaringene fra de siste tre rådsperiodene, fremmes det synspunkter på NSfKs videre arbeid.

The core of the empirical part (Part II) of this research publication is based onthe International Self-Report Delinquency Study 2 project. The project constitutesthe second sweep of an international self-report delinquency survey.The Nordic ISRD-2 data collection was financed, and co-ordinated in theNordic context, by the Scandinavian Research Council for Criminology. TheNordic data collectors and their institutional affiliations are presented on aseparate page. The Scandinavian Research Council for Criminology commissionedJanne Kivivuori to write this report, submitting the Nordic capital citysample to him for the purpose of writing the country report of the Nordic area.Dr. Kivivuori acts currently as the Research Director of the criminologicalunit of the Finnish National Research Institute of Legal Policy.
