The Scandinavian Research Council for Criminology (NSfK) is pleased to announce our 54th Research Seminar. This year’s seminar will be hosted in Selfoss, Iceland from 6th to 9th of May 2012.

The Scandinavian Research Council for Criminology's Research Seminar 2012 will be held in Selfoss, Iceland, on 6-9 May.

The Observatory of Fraud in Economics and Management (OBEGEF) and the Faculty of Economics, University of Porto are currently planning a major interdisciplinary conference on fraud, corruption, shadow economy and money laundering: “Interdisciplinary Insights on fraud and corruption: international conference” 

As a part of the programme of the Finnish Presidency of the Nordic Council of Ministers 2011, the Ministry of Justice and the Advisory Board for Victim-Offender Mediation are arranging a two-day seminar in Helsinki, on the 9th and 10th of February 2012, on victim’s position in Restorative Justice and Victim-Offender Mediation. 

The Defences of the Weak: A Sociological Study of a Norwegian Correctional Institution by Thomas Mathiesen has recently been published, and is Mathiesen’s first in depth studies of prison.

The 3-year workshop When the Unforeseen is Seen,  initiated and funded by the Scandinavian Research Council for Criminology, was recently completed. Prompted by a banking collapse in Iceland in 2008, the workshop's topics were related to crisis and society.

Behavioral Sciences and Law invites submissions for a forthcoming special issue on Measuring and Interpreting the Predictive Validity of Violence Risk Assessment.

The Scandinavian Research Council for Criminology announces it's Fellowship and Research Grants for 2012. 

The Potential of Nordic Criminology - An Evaluation of the Scandinavian Research Council for Criminology is a report by Hildigunnur Ólafsdóttir, recently published by the NSfK. The aim of the report is to create an overview of NSfK‘s activities in the years 2001-2009 and make suggestions for future projects.

An International Congress on Public Safety in a Diverse Society  will be held by the programme in Madrid and Segovia (Spain) October 19th-22nd 2011 by the Public Safety Community Programme which aims to define a model of public safety to guarantee the rights of each and every individual and group in our increasingly diverse, complex, technological and interdependent cities. 

A new interdisciplinary anthology, "Eco-Global Crimes: Contemporary and Future Challenges", will be published  in the field of eco-global criminology in 2012. 

The next Stockholm Criminology Symposium will take place June 13-15, 2011.
