Each year in June the Swedish National Council for Crime Prevention (Brå) organize the Stockholm Criminology Symposium, which takes place in central Stockholm and usually features over 200 speakers who presents their research and share their experiences in over 60 sessions.
The event is organized in conjunction with the award ceremony of the Stockholm Prize in Criminology. The prize ceremony 2025 will honor the prize winners Frances Crook, UK and Bryan Stevenson, USA. The international jury’s motivation is that they based on applied knowledge from criminology have succeeded in reducing the occurrence of disproportionate punishment, in the UK and in the USA.
Following the prize winners’ achievements in the application of research results, the main symposium theme will be Justice and rationality in correctional policies and practices. In 2025 we will also have the second theme Digitalization in crime, in tackling crime, and in criminology. As usual, there is also a general theme, Contemporary criminology, which covers a broad range of subjects in the area of criminology.
Please be welcome to submit abstracts for presentations by February 28, 2025
